Unlocking your phone can be done in several different ways depending on what you specifically want to do. If you want to unlock your phone in order to use a different SIM from another network, you will have to apply for a network unlock code. If joining or leaving Vodafone and you wish to keep your number, you have to get a porting authorization code. To unlock your SIM due to three unsuccessful PIN attempts, you will need to get a PIN Unlock Key (PUK).
You just simply have to make a payment for what you use. With a Pay monthly bundle, the charges are fixed, unless you go over your data allowance. Vodafone would let you know if you are about to go over the limit, and would provide you with great options too.
It is very easy to stop using Pay as You Go. You can simply do it by not using Pay as you go and it will automatically get disconnected after six months. Make sure to use up your credit first as it will be lost once it is disconnected.
